Santa Rita Jail Overview

Santa Rita Jail is operated by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office in Dublin, California. The sheriff directory identifies the facility as a detention facility at 5325 Broder Blvd, Dublin, CA 94568, with the main phone number (925) 551-6500. It is the county's Type II local detention facility and receives people arrested by sheriff deputies, city police departments, BART police, CHP, and other Alameda County agencies.

County materials describe Santa Rita as a large jail campus opened in 1989. The campus is described as 113 acres and roughly 1 million square feet, with on-site medical and mental-health services, food service, laundry operations, and housing units for different custody levels. The PREA audit described maximum, medium, minimum, and administrative-isolation custody, with eight maximum units on one side of the compound and ten medium/minimum units on the other. Older locator text may still mention Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility, but county research says Glenn Dyer closed permanently in June 2019, so Santa Rita is the active county jail destination for public lookup.

It reported 1,252 people in custody, including 1,143 males and 109 females. The same snapshot reported 103 sentenced people and 1,149 unsentenced people, showing that the jail population was overwhelmingly pretrial or otherwise not yet serving a local sentence on that date. It also listed 10 pending state-prison commitments, 11 pending state-hospital commitments, and 25 federal incarcerated persons.

The locator accepts PFN, first and last name, optional middle name, sex, date of birth, a phonetic spelling checkbox, and a last-24-hours booking filter. ACSO announced that beginning February 23, 2026, Santa Rita Jail non-privileged mail must go to Pigeonly Corrections' processing center. Non-privileged mail received at the jail after March 25, 2026 will be returned. Mail must include the incarcerated person's name and PFN. Legal mail and publisher or direct-distributor books, magazines, and newspapers continue to go directly to Santa Rita Jail when addressed to a named incarcerated individual.
